While  breeding  Rottweilers, I have a bitter experience that one of the female Rottweilers lost her 7 puppies, when they were only 10 to 18 days old. Three of them were healthy while the remaining 4 were weak and hardly sucking the udder of their mother.But it' unfortunate the loss of the healthy puppies.The veterinary doctors diagnosis the defects in feeding and care during pregnancy. This area should be away from noise and disturbances, allowing the mother to feel safe and relaxed. A whelping box is an ideal solution, providing a secure space for both the mother and her puppies. The box should be large enough for her to move around.

Make sure the whelping box is clean and lined with soft, washable bedding. Keep the area at a warm and comfortable temperature, as newborn puppies are unable to regulate their body heat. You may also want to introduce your dog to the whelping box  a few weeks before her due date, so she can become familiar with it.
