  Why People are Panic for My Rottweiler - Roxy Introduction I have a dog named Roxy, a Rottweiler by breed. I bred it when it was one month old. My son bought it from Dehradun on 16 August 2019. He trained it as per his knowledge and skill.  It was very small in size and cute in looking. So, every member of the family would take it in his/her lap while it preferred running on the floor and biting the wooden sofa. It growled when objected. Introduction:

Himalayan Belt is adorned with Bugyals and Glaciers having great splendour. Bugyals are alpine pasture lands found in the higher altitude of the Himalayas. There are a number of Bugyals found in the area, Bedni bugyal, Dayara Bugyal,Gidara Bugyal, Bagi Bugyal, Chhiplakot Bugyal, Askot Bugyal, Ralam Bugyal,Namik Bugyal, and Panchachuli Bugyal are the most famous Bugyals in Himalayan area. These Bugyals are popular among trekkers and nature enthusiasts for their natural beauty and the opportunity to experience the unique high-altitude ecosystems of the Himalayas. Today, we'discuss on Trekking to Panchachuli Bugyal and its itinerary in Pithoragarh distrist,(Uttarakhand) India. The Panchachuli Bugyal is at an elevation of 4260 meters with the five peaks of Panchachuli in the back ground. Among the five peaks, Panchachuli ii has the highest elevation at 6904 meters. 

The Panchachuli Trekking Route and Time-table

The route to Panchachuli Bugtrekking route, yal literally starts from Darma Valley, which is covered from Dharchula a hill station in Pithoragarh district at the bank of River Kali at Nepal Border and infront of Darchula (Nepal). Tawaghat is 18 km from Dharchula on the Kailash Mansarobe Road. the road to Darma valley bifercates to left hand at the Tawaghat Bridge point.to Panchachuli Base Camp. It is a hard and tuff  trekking route while the off road driving is done by Dar village which lies 42 km ahead  of Dharchula, the nearest town from the trekking base. Local Taxies and 4x4 jeeps are available from Dharchula to Dar village via Tawaghat and Sobia.

 From Sobia to Panchachuli Bugyal/ Panchachuli Glacier is 45 km  trek which then passes through the tribal villages of Dar, Baaling, Sela, Nagling, Baaling, and Dugtu/ Dantu village in the Darma Valley before reaching finally at Panchachuli Bugyal/Glacier.Dar to Panchachuli Bugyal is apleasant walk and the trail goes through the thick forests along the river Dhauliganga. Trekking around Panchachuli Base Camp is really an enthralling experience to enjoy all around the year its pleasant atmosphere. It's a time taking trekking. So, before setting out , fix the time table accordingly. The trek usually takes over  8 to 10 days, covering a distance of approximately 100 KM.

Trekking Itinerary

Day- 1 Dharchula to Sobia

The journey starts with a panoramic view and scenic drive from Dharchula to Sobia, passing through Ranthi, Tawaghat and lush green valleys and along the roaring Kali River up to Tawaghat then turning to left along Dhauliganga River. Sobia is a suitable place to start the trekking, Trekkers can camp here for the night  and prepare for the adventure ahead.  Sobia serves as the starting point of the trek

DAY2- Sobia to Sela:

.The trek from Sobia to Sela is a slight and gentle climb through dense forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron. The trail is adorned with cascading waterfalls and vibrant flora. Sela is a small village where trekkers can experience the warm hospitality of the local people and get a glimpse of the traditional kumaoni lifestyle. the dresses, dishes, and the folk songs, every thing speaks of the culture of the valley.

Day3- Sela to Nagling

Leaving Sela, the trail ascends towards Naglin, offering stunning views of the surrounding peaks. The path goes through lush green forests, and across quaint wooden bridge. Nagling is also a village with beautiful surrounding of greenery where trekkers wish to take a rest for the night and acclimatize.

Day 4- Naling to Baaling

The journey from Naling to Baling involves a steep climb, but the effort is rewarded with breathtaking vistas of the Panchachuli peaks. Baaling is a high -altitude meadow, or Bugyal which is known as Dhura in local dialect, where trekkers can camp amidst nature's lap. The starry sky at night fills the heart of trekkers with joy.

Day 5- Baaling to Panchachuli Base camp

The hard and tough climb begins from Baaling to Panchachuli Base Camp. The trail crosses glaciers, streams rivulets, and moraines, offering a true and realistic Himalayan trekking experience. On reaching the base cam, trekkers are welcomed and greeted by the majestic sight of the Panchachuli peaks, towering above.The sense of thankful to almighty and the amazing natural beauty of the surroundings make this an unforgettable part of the journey.

Day 6-7:  Exploration and Acclimatization

Trekkers feels and pride of the nature's splendor and spend a couple of days at the base cam, exploring the surrounding areas and acclimatizing to the high -altitude. The base camp offers for short hikes to nearby glaciers and ridges, experiencing the grandeur of the Himalayas.

Day 8-10: Back to Sobia/ Dharchula

The return journey follows the same route, with trekkers retracing their steps back to Sobia and then driving to Dharchula. The down coming is quicker, and the familiar trail allows walking fast with confidant pace.

Flora and Fauna:

One of the remarkable aspects of the Panchachuli Bugyal trek is the rich biodiversity encountered along the way.The lower -altitudes are covered with dense forests of oak, pine, deodar, and rhododendron. As trekkers ascend, the vegetation changes to alpine meadows decorated with a variety of wildflowers, including blue puppies and potentials.

The region is also home to many2 wildlife. Trekkers may spot Himalayan Monal, the state bird of Uttarakhand, as well as bharal (blue sheep), musk deer, and even the elusively seen snow leopard. The forests are inhabited by a variety of bird species, making it a paradise for bird watchers.

Cultural and Traditional Experience:

The Panchachuli Bugyal Trek is not just about natural beauty, but also offers a deep Cultural and Traditional Experience. The villags of Sela, Nagling, Baaling, are inhabited by the Bhotia community, an indigenous group with a rich cultural heritage.Trekkers can interact with the locals, learn about their traditions, dishes,dresses,and witness their unique way of life.

The Bhotia community is known for their hospitality and resilience. They are primarily shepherd and engage in traditional craft such as weaving and knitting  latter abut with a span of time also a business community. Their vibrant and splendour festivals, traditional dances, and local cuisine add a cultural dimension to the trekking experience. 

Best timing to Trek to Panchachuli Bugyal:

The best time to undertake the Panchachuli Bugyal trek is during the pre- monsoon (May to June) and post -monsoon (September to October) seasons. During these months, the weather is relatively moderate and the skies are clear giving  different views  of the mountains. The temperature during the day is pleasant , although nights can be bitter cold, especially at higher altitudes.

In the pre-monsoon season, the rhododendron forests are in full bloom, giving a new colour to landscape. The post-monsoon season, on the other hand, offer clear skies,and crisp air, making it suitable for photography.and uninterrupted mountain views.

Preparation for Trekking and Tips:

All the trekking exercise demand precautions, preparations, do's and don'ts and home work before moving to trekking in Himalayan belt. While the Panchachuli Bugyal is moderately challenging, it requires a good level of physical fitness and preparation. I try to put some tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable trekking experience:

1- Physical Fitness: Make a time-table for morning walk and jogging regularly for atleast for six                                             months or the whole year.as it gives you activeness, energy and healthy                                                     lungs.Engage in regular cardiovascular exercises and strength training to                                                   buildup stamina and endurance.

2- Proper Gear:      Health is wealth, knowing this fact, why not you vibrant yourself.Invest in                                              good quality trekking gear, including sturdy hiking boots, a waterproof                                                      backpack or a  raincoat,warm clothing,and a sleeping bag.

3- Acclimatisation:   Spend a day or two in Sobia and Dar to acclimatize to the altitude before                                                   starting the trek.It would keep you away from altitude sickness.

4- Hydration:            Stay hydrated throughout  the trek to prevent altitude sickness. Drink sufficient                                        water and proper meal.

5- Local Guide:       Hiring a local guide is recommended as they are familiar with the terrain and                                           can provide valuable insights about the region, They are good in conversation to                                        villagers en route in local dialects. 

Eco-friendly Practices for Panchachuli Trek:

As with any trekking expedition, it is important to follow Eco-friendly Practices to preserve the prestine environment of Panchachuli Bugyal. Trekkers should follow the principles of "Leave No Trace", which include waste, avoiding the use of plastic, and respecting the local flora and fauna as well as cultural heritage.

Avoide polluting streams, glaciers and rivers, Campfires should be dropped out, and cooking should be done using portable  stoves to minimize the impact on the environment. Water sources along the trail should be utilized responsibly. The remaining and plastic wastage should be carried back for dust-bins on the way.
